Ethical Guidelines

After spending some time talking with many others (colleagues, friends, strangers at networking events), I want to be upfront about how I use AI. I believe this kind of transparency is essential for informed consent, so we can define our working relationship together. If you're going to bring me the inside of your relationship, you have a right know what's happening with your data, including the parts that involve AI.
We're in a strange, fast-moving moment with this technology, and I don't think anyone fully knows where it settles yet. Some of you reading this already lean on AI daily, maybe even for the kind of reflection or support a coach would normally offer. Just as many of you have never opened a chat window, on principle, out of caution, or because it simply doesn't sit right with how you want to live. Both of those are completely reasonable places to stand right now. I'm not trying to convince anyone to feel differently about AI in general. I'm just telling you where it sits in my own work, so you can decide what that means for you.
Where AI shows up
I use AI tools (mainly Claude, sometimes ChatGPT) the way I'd use a very well-read research assistant or a sharp editor. That means things like:
Drafting titles and tightening website copy, emails, or marketing campaigns. Organizing my own notes and research on frameworks I already use in my work. Helping me think through the structure of a workshop or a program before I build it. Handling admin: newsletter logistics, video editing, the unglamorous back end of running a one-person practice.
Where it doesn't
AI is not in the room with you. It doesn't sit in on sessions (unless you ask for a recording/transcript), it doesn't read your intake forms, and it has no access to anything you tell me in confidence.
If I ever bring a clinical question to AI at all, it's the same way I'd bring it to a supervisor: as a composite description, anonymized, with no personal identifiers.
Your privacy, specifically
No client names or identifying details are ever entered into an AI tool. Full stop. If I'm thinking through a pattern I'm noticing in my work more broadly, I write about it the way I would in a case consultation: stripped of anything that could point back to you or anyone else I work with.
My general data handling (what I collect, where it's stored, how long I keep it, and your rights around it) is laid out in my Coaching Agreement & data processing notice, which I keep updated as my tools change.
Is my online content is still me?
Yes.
AI helps me draft, organize, and think out loud, but it doesn't have final say. The thinking is mine. AI just occasionally helps me get it onto the page faster.
Reality check: I’m one person running this practice, and I'm competing for attention against an ocean of content, a lot of it AI-generated start to finish, all fighting for the same seconds of attention. I could produce more, faster, if I let AI do more, and I’m choosing not to. I’m worried about being left behind, but I also want to give you quality over quantity.
If any of this raises questions for you, or you'd simply like to know more before we work together, just ask.

I reject all forms of racism and discrimination.
Racism or discrimination in any form will not be tolerated. I am committed to the mission of increasing cultural and interpersonal respect by cultivating a greater understanding of concepts of diversity, inclusion, equity, implicit bias, white privilege, white supremacy, and systemic racism.

MBTI® Ethical Guidelines
I am a certified MBTI® Master Practitioner, and happily follow these guidelines as established by a collaborative effort between the Myers and Briggs Foundation, the Myers-Briggs Company (formerly known as CPP, Inc.), the Center for Applications of Psychological Type (CAPT, Inc.), and the Association for Psychological Type International (APTi).
Confidentiality in Administering and Providing Results
Results are to be given directly to the respondent, whether as an individual or part of a group. Feedback regarding results should include a general explanation of MBTI® theory and preferences and is most ideally given in face-to-face settings. Results should be given in a way that is personal and allows for questions, clarification and interaction with the respondent. Mechanized methods of feedback are not acceptable. Results are available only to the respondent, unless specific permission has been given to share the information with a third party. Each person will decide whether or not to reveal his or her type preferences with others.
The respondent should be informed in advance as to the purpose of taking the instrument and how results will be used. Taking the instrument is always voluntary. The information is not to be used to label, evaluate, or limit any individual in any way.
The respondent should be given an opportunity to clarify their indicated type with the MBTI administrator. Each respondent should be provided a written description of their indicated type and preferably a written description of all sixteen types.
In using the instrument for research purposes only, it is not necessary to provide individual results to the respondents. Providing feedback as an option for those requesting it is encouraged.
Providing feedback to the individual and or group is intended to enhance rather than to limit or restrict the functioning of the individual or group.
The Indicator should be used according to the instructions on the booklet and in the Manual.
Specific questions should not be taken from the Indicator to get a "quick reading" on a particular preference scale.
The Indicator should be used with appropriate populations and results used as suggested in the Manual.
Interpreting MBTI® Results
The administrator must use terms and descriptors that are nonjudgmental and describe type attributes as tendencies, preferences, or inclinations rather than as absolutes. Biased terms may slant interpretation or send messages that a particular preference is "good" or "not desirable".
The administrator should be careful not to over generalize or over simplify results and imply that all people of a certain type behave the same way.
One should not state or imply that type explains everything. Type does not reflect an individual's ability, intelligence, likelihood of success, emotions, or normalcy. Type is one important component of the complex human personality.
The administrator should not impose the results on the respondent nor become defensive if the respondent disagrees with the reported results or does not believe they are accurate. One should explore the perceived differences and help the respondent to be comfortable with themselves.
Administrators need to be aware of, and sensitive to their own type biases and exert every effort to present feedback in an objective way.
It is unethical and in many cases illegal to require job applicants to take the Indicator if the results will be used to screen out applicants. The administrator should not counsel a person to, or away from, a particular career, personal relationship or activity based solely upon type information.
Administrators should accurately represent their competence and experience to clients.
Administrators should continually upgrade their knowledge of the Indicator and advances in the understanding and application of type through education (workshops, seminars, conferences), reading, or other means.
Administrators should provide the respondent with materials that describe all 16 types.

What coaching is (and isn't)
Coaching is a future-oriented, professional, and personal development process. It is not a substitute for therapy.
As your coach, I (Doris Fuellgrabe, MSc) am not a medical practitioner. My work focuses on personal growth and relational development, supporting you in gaining self-awareness, clarifying what you want, and building strategies that help you thrive. It is not designed to diagnose, treat, or cure any physical or psychological condition.
Most clients experience meaningful improvements through the coaching process, but I can't guarantee specific outcomes.
If you think you may have a medical or mental health condition that needs professional diagnosis or treatment, please do seek that support. I'm glad to work alongside other professionals, but I can't replace them. Any conversation about medication or finances during our sessions is for context only; decisions in those areas remain entirely yours.
What I'm asking of you
By entering into this agreement, you're confirming that you:
are here voluntarily and bring genuine willingness to engage with the process
take responsibility for your own wellbeing between sessions
will share your communication preferences, boundaries, and honest feedback, including if something isn't working
will give at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule a session
will pay all agreed fees on time
understand that Doris Fuellgrabe holds no liability for decisions you make during or after the coaching process
Fees, refunds, and ending the relationship
We work together in good faith. If coaching genuinely isn't providing value, all pre-paid fees plus the most recent session fee will be returned in full.
Either of us may end the coaching relationship at any time. If a dispute arises, we'll do our best to resolve it directly before involving any formal process.
