Audio Clip of a Couples Session: ISFP and ENTJ Communication Styles
Ever since watching HBO's In Treatment (Gabriel Byrne, anyone? Swoooon...) I've been obsessed with playing fly-on-the-wall during therapy sessions. I'm not the only one - Esther Perel's "Where should we begin?" podcast has millions of downloads, and Showtime just published the second season of Couples Therapy.
So, I've been thinking about how best to share insights from last year's research interviews, and want to try something different for this weeks' post: an audio clip! Thank you Zak for the encouragement. 💫
What you'll hear is a clip from the second half of the Your Love Profiles process, the couples session.*
This clip is from an ISFP (Jill) and ENTJ (James) couple, and we're talking about the differences in their informing and directing communication styles.
The basic example we're referencing is that someone with an informing communication style is more likely to say "hm, I'm getting cold," where someone with a directing communication style is more likely to say, "close the window."
Would love to know your comments / suggestions! For instance, if I put more clips together and e.g. made them available as a podcast, would you listen? What kind of information or commentary would you want to have included? Email me and let me know!
*The first half of the process is me taking each partner through a self-discovery process individually. Once we know their preferences, I put together the Profiles. Then we meet all together to talk about the relationship, and discuss how the Type preferences show up.
All couples who did the research with me signed a waiver and gave me permission to share any findings.
